Border Control Slows Virus Spread For the first time in more than a century, Queensland closed its border. Queensland border closure To slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Queensland Government is tightening restricted entry into Queensland. New restrictions will apply from Friday 12.01 am Friday 3 April 2020 which will only allow Queensland residents and those considered an ‘exempt person’ to cross the border. Restrictions preventing interstate FIFO workers (except for certain positions in certain resource industries) apply from 11.59 pm Saturday 4 April 2020. These restrictions continue provide for the continuation of essential goods and services for Queenslanders.
